Who are we to talk about health?
In April of 1996 I finished my last internship of my Occupational Therapy degree. I received my diploma in the mail a few weeks later.
Graduation didn’t mean an end to my education but, in many ways, it marked the start of it. The privilege to be able to work as an Occupational Therapist and to work with the thousands of people I’ve been honored to help. How do I come to that number? Thousands. (Well, 20 years, where every year is about 240 days , most therapists see between 6 to 14 patients in an eight hour day. So, in a year the average therapist would see over a thousand people easily.)
I don’t remember every one of them but I hope I made an impact.
The one person that has been there along the way was me. And I am not the same person I was, I know I have grown.
Aside from an amazing professional life I have had I have grown in my family and my relationships.
The gift of an incredible education along with a willingness to continue to experiment upon myself has helped me to develop into the person I have become.
The other thing is that I just love this stuff. I have been amazed by human healing. I have enjoyed learning the secrets to help it happen faster.
So, “Who am I to talk about health?” Just a person who has been working towards this for a long time.
I hope you find a lot of great information here.
Yours,
Ed Kaine, OT, RFT
